What is Cambodia’s most famous dish?

Cambodian food isn’t as widely known as it’s neighboring countries to the east and west but do share commonalities. There is however, one dish that stands out that is undeniably Khmer.

Amok Trei or Fish Amok is a savory Khmer curry stew that is delicately steamed in banana leaves to heighten the aroma of the spices known as Krueng which is a mix of lemongrass, garlic, kaffir leaves, galangal and turmeric.

Here’s a Fish Amok recipe from a cookbook From Spiders to Water Lilies: Creative Cambodian Cooking With Friends.
