A few years back Kampong Cham, a Cambodian provinced named after the minority muslim Cham populationbwas split in half. The result was the formation of a new province on the Eastern half Tbong Khmum. The name intrigued me as I thought it had something to do with bees. A little research and the use of a dictionary revealed that Tbong Khmum means ‘Amber’ or ‘Orange’. My interpretation of that to mean in relations to Buddhist.
Tbong Khmum interests me because my parents hometown ate located within the borders. Its a province with many rubber plantations and rice fields. It’s easy to fall in love with Tbong Khmum. Has anyone been?
