While forums are great for sharing ideas and topic discussions, chatroom(s) offer real-time interaction that I think many of us can appreciate and it grants people an opportunity to get to know one another. Some of you may remember the (now defunct) camweb.org. It was definitely a great place to connect to other fellow Khmers/Cambodians which allowed folks to traverse their friendships from online to the real meatspace and organize events. It was nice to be able to connect to other Khmer folks no matter where are you in the world even if you lived in some isolated area. Just a thought.

If anyone is down, I can start a room in PalTalk.  It’s the longest lasting one I know of and less intrusive than creating a Skype conference.

What are your thoughts on irc or slack? Unless you want something more ephemeral. I am not very familiar with PalTalk. Also, Skype (acquired by Microsoft a few years ago) doesn’t value your privacy. Their logs get sent to one of their servers based in Berkeley, CA iirc.

Looks like my OS doesn’t jive with this app. This is an instant room and no registration required. The only drawback is randos can come in, but I can ban them quickly as a mod. These rooms aren’t permanent, but I’ll be happy to register and create one if this platform is promising. https://tinychat.com/room/31psn5

Using IRC back from 1996 I feel it’s a bit outdated and quite a bit of a learning curve from today’s standards. Check out my PalTalk link I’ll keep the room open for now.

Thank bro. Prior to this I had to register an account and DL the app. At least this way I can just jump and use the web UI.

The Berkeley comment is related to deleted messages that were never really deleted but still archived back to its servers which sparked privacy concerns in the past.
