Vanna Howards game-changing state rep victory

The victory by Vanna Howard, a survivor of the Cambodian genocide, was shocking to some, especially in its breadth.

According to the unofficial results from Lowell and Chelmsford, Howard received a total of 2,681 votes (44%); Dave Nangle came in a distant second with 1,966 votes (32%), a 715-vote margin. Challenger Lisa Arnold finished with 1,474 votes (24%) of the 6,121 cast.

Vanna Howard not only recorded impressive margins in virtually every contested Lowell ward and precinct, she also carried Dave Nangle's Belvidere stronghold, Ward 1, precincts 2 and 3, coming away with about 200-vote margin.
