The forgotten battle at Koh Tang island

On May 15, 1975 a battle erupted at Koh Tang, Cambodia when Americans assaulted the Khmer Rouge in an attempt to save U.S soldiers from a captured U.S. merchant container ship, the SS Mayaguez.

The Khmer Rouge had captured the SS Mayaguez just three days prior and had planned to release the U.S. crew members but Americans proceeded to attack causing 41 U.S. casualties and several Cambodian fighters.
